Summer is over and Autumn is fast approaching. The majority of us will be spending more nights in with the heating on and a cup of tea to hand. This year has been tough for the most of us. Corona Virus has eased but the state of the economy is of great concern. In this blog we will explore a multitude of on-trend products to save the planet and save you £££’s.
Cleaning does more than just remove dirt and dust from surfaces. It makes your home an all-around more pleasant place to live while boosting the health and safety of the living spaces where you and your family spend the most time.
1. Reusable and Refillable Cleaning Products
Reducing waste and plastic has become a priority in many households. Most of us are somewhat aware of the irreparable damage the world is facing due to over filled land fields, plastic-littered oceans and the monumental release of greenhouse gas emissions.
New ‘ethical’ cleaning products flooding the market have really left their mark. The leading supermarkets have welcomed these newest additions to their stores as they have pledged to reduced its plastic use on multiple fronts.
Think glass bottles and other containers you can use for several refills instead of tossing when the solution runs out. To further reduce waste, opt for washable mop heads instead of single-use ones and trade disposable cleaning wipes and paper towels for reusable microfiber cloths.
2. Eco-Conscious Ingredients
People are increasingly stocking their cleaning shelves with formulas that are safer for their homes and healthier for the planet. According to a Buda study, more than half of British people say they've switched to more environmentally friendly cleaning products in the past year. Expect to see a shift toward plant-derived ingredients, biodegradable and water-based solutions, and cleaners that are free from potentially harmful ingredients like ammonia and formaldehyde.
We recommend for an inexpensive solution, swapping expensive cleaning products to fool proof products such as vinegar and water. In a clean, empty bottle, mix together 1:1 parts distilled vinegar and distilled/filtered water. Simply shake it up and start cleaning! If you are worried about the smell of vinegar simply infuse some orange peel to release its fragrant whiff. Do remember that this all-purpose non-toxic cleaning spray shouldn’t be used on granite or marble.
3. Quick Cleaning Solutions
People need cleaning products that work for their busy schedules. Consumers want quick, all-in-one tools that make cleaning easy and more efficient. Innovative tools like robot vacuums and mops, for example, are popular solutions that take the effort out of keeping floors clean.
For those who prefer a more hands-on approach, cordless vacuums are a convenient, grab-and-go solution that's also on the rise. We often find that after switching to a cordless vacuum cleaner, people may clean more often but for shorter periods of time. The freedom of cutting the cord makes the activity of vacuuming feel less like a timely chore and more like a simple solution for keeping areas clean.
4. Pet-Friendly Cleaners
The pandemic pet boom is also a driving factor in today's cleaning trends. People are prioritising products that can effectively remove pet hair and the outdoor dust and dirt pets can bring into the home. You can now find more vacuums with attachments designed to pick up pet hair and filtration systems that can capture pollen and other particles that pets might track inside. Additionally, as the need for pet-safe solutions increases, many brands now offer all-purpose cleaners, disinfectants, floor care products, and other cleaners specially designed for use around furry friends.
F4F Facilities Management understands that whilst we all endeavour to keep our homes clean - It can be expensive! We aim to equip you with cheaper alternatives to those leading products on the market. Join us next month for some new cleaning tips and hacks.
